Getting there Sagada

As of this moment, there is no airport in Sagada or anywhere nearby. The only way to get there is by taking a private car or a public bus. There are no direct buses that goes from Manila to Sagada or vice versa but there are two possible routes that you can take if you are coming from the capital. Travel time from Manila to Sagada will take you aproximately 12 hours regardless which route you decide to take. 

First route is the Manila-Baguio-Sagada. From Manila, you can take any bus that goes to Baguio like Victory Liner ( which has bus terminals all over the metro including Cubao, Sampaloc, Caloocan and Pasay. Their Pasay terminal though has the most Baguio trips wherein the earliest bus for Baguio leaves at 1:00am and goes on every hour until 12 midnight. A regular airconditioned bus from Manila to Baguio costs around 455php while a deluxe bus will cost you 700php. Other bus companies that has a Manila to Baguio route are Dagupan Bus Lines (Cubao, Quezon City 02 727 2330) and Philippine Rabbit (Oroquieta St. Manila 02 734 9836). Travel time from Manila to Baguio is around 6-7 hours. From Baguio, take a cab and instruct the driver to bring you to Dangwa Bus Terminal. From the terminal, look for GL Trans / Lizardo Bus and and get a ticket for the Sagada bus which will cost you around 220php. Earliest trip departs at 6:30am while the last one leaves at 1:00pm. There are only ordinary buses going to Sagada but you don't need to worry about the heat since it's a mountainous region, the air can be pretty refreshing. During the summer time though, it is still advisable to apply some sun protector as the heat can be tough. The Baguio to Sagada bus plies the scenic yet thrilling and scary Halsema Highway where you will pass the highest point in Luzon which reaches about 2,255 above sea level. In this route you will witness a view of the Cordillera mountain range and some rice terraces. Travel time from Baguio to Sagada is around 6-7 hours.

The second route is the Manila-Banaue-Bontoc-Sagada. Currently, there are three bus companies that has daily trips from Manila to Banaue. These are: GV Florida Transport (Espana, Manila 02 731 5358), Autobus (Laong Laan St. Sampaloc, Manila 02 743 3227) and Dangwa Tranco (Sampaloc, Manila 02 731 2879). Travel duration from Manila to Banaue takes around 9 hours with a few stopovers for snacks and personal needs. Ticket fare depends on the bus company but usually ranges from 450php to 500php.  After arriving in Banaue, catch an Immanuel Bus Line that is heading to Bontoc and fare costs 100php. The bus will drop you off the Bontoc Municipal Hall and then from there you can get a jeep that goes straight to Sagada (35php). You can either ride inside the jeepney or be like the locals and get on the rooftop where you can enjoy a great view of the mountains.
