Shopping in Davao is as convenient as getting a taxi due to the wide availability of shopping malls and one-stop shops where you can just buy souvenirs in one area. The most popular shopping place for souvenirs and handicrafts is the Aldevinco Shopping Center located along CM Recto Street and Manuel Roxas Avenue. Aldevinco, is one of the oldest shopping centers in Davao being opened in 1965 and currently has more than 100 shops within the area. Here, you can find stalls selling batik products like garments, bags, tablecloths or just textiles wherein some are even imported from Malaysia and Indonesia. Other products being sold here are wood carvings, souvenir shirts, brass items, native delicacies like durian and pomelo candy as well as their fresh counterpart. You can also find here packed tuna or some fresh or frozen seafood. Don't be shy to haggle for the best price as most of the shops sell the same items and you just need to find the best price.
Further there are plenty of small sari sari stores selling everyday items, snacks, chips and simple meals against affordable margins. They are literally everywhere, even on remote beaches of Samal Island:
Of course, like anywhere else in the Philippines, your Davao shopping won't be complete without paying a visit to the mall. Davao has numerous big shopping malls wherein it has everything in one building, from supermarket to cinemas to a variety of specialty restaurants. If you mention mall in the Philippines, the word that comes next is SM. SM City Davao is located in Quimpo Boulevard and like any other SM shopping mall, has numerous shops, restaurants and a cinema aside from their department store and supermarket. Other shopping malls within Davao are Gaisano Mall and Victoria Plaza Mall which are both located in Jose P.Laurel Avenue, NCCC Mall located in MacArthur Highway, Davao City and for a bit more upmarket, head to Chimes Mall which is located along Sales Street which is also known as Davao's Chinatown.
One of the newest malls is the Abreeza Mall from the Ayala Corporation. The mall has a nice semi open air foodcourt on the top floor with a view of the city and surrounding mountains.
